It's Good to be Back

It's been two month plus since my holidays started after I have graduated. I'm waiting for my government induction. Being free and able to attend every activities planned by my friends, it makes me wonders. I really missed out a lot for the whole five years I'm in Sabah. Some of the things that I missed out:

1) Frequent 'yumcha' session
2) Friends and seniors wedding
3) Some of the cool clubbing sessions
4) Some of the cool events like concerts
5) Gatherings and trips (I missed the Hong Kong trip!)

I have more things to do here than the small little place they call Kota Kinabalu City! Life was stressful there, WHEN YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DO! Time just passed by slowly. Argh... the agony!

Well, lets talk about something cool. Two weeks ago, me and my La Sallian friends had our yearly gathering. We had two actually. One was a roadtrip to Genting, which was two weeks ago and another was BBQ session, the following week. It was awesome!

We drove there with Yi Quan's and Hui King's car. Thanks to them! Our accommodation was sponsored by Hui King, at Ria Apartment. A big thank you to him again! Being young at heart, we went crazy all over!

A Genting trip would not be excellent without drinking Coffee Bean at freezing temperature during midnight at Resort Hotel.

Of course there are other stuffs that we did. But I'm to lazy to describe. The was no hanky panky, though. :p

The following week, we had our yearly BBQ. This time, the venue was sponsored by Gabriel.

Everyone looks full, I think...

Looking back at all the BBQ pictures we took over the years, we do grow up. NOT OLD. But we are still young at heart and does lots of crazy things.

McDonalds Olympic Day Run 2009

Yes! I'm an olympian. Want to know why? Because the certificate from this run was signed by the olympic committee.

I wonder Ronald is running too?

The dynamic trio. From left: Colin, the Neo(of Matrix) wannabe, Honey, the first timer and me, the 'hebat' one.

The run was at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur on the 12th of July 2009. It was kind of scary as the day was like this:

It's already 7 something and the weather was like this and windy.

If it rains, this would be my first run under the rain. I wonder my Nike pouch is water resistant? If not, I will need a new phone as my phone is my music player for all my runs.

There were so much people although there was not much publicity for the event.

I can kiss my RM 1000 prize goodbye!

Ronald flagged us off at 7.30 am sharp. I didn't notice him as we were standing at the back to prevent being mowed down by fast runners at the front.

The route was nearly the same as the New Balance Pacesetter 15Km run. So there was more down hill than up hill. Thank God!

Still, how can we win when we have opponents like these:

Our Malaysian walk racer, Yuan Yufang.

Kenyans are good runners!

The prizes were limited and the medals were for top 100 finishers only. Therefore I did not have a medal for this. :( But it was a great run though. Fun day to enjoy with good friends while staying healthy.

Here I come! Finishing time: 44 mins 19 seconds (44' 19" 47)

And here comes Colin.

Honey is here!

The finishers! From left: Me, Honey and Colin.

With our great hardcore fan, Michelle Tan. Thanks to her, the photos were possible.

Punishing Inconsiderate Person

It's annoying on the road that when someone, who owns a small car, thinks they need a bigger space.

As we all know, some junctions have left turnings for those who wants to turn left(obviously!) without waiting for the traffic lights. Sometimes the line from those who are waiting to go straight could be quite long.

A considerate driver would stop their car nearer to the center of the road so that those who wants to drive by the side to turn left will not be blocked.

Well, today, there was this Kenari. A very stupid driver who stops quite near to the left side, leaving a very narrow space for a car to pass. There was so much space on the center that I swear that even a Camry could pass by there.

So there I was trying to go through that narrow space. Being unable to estimate how much is left on left side of the road as there was an elevated sidewalk there, I stick nearer to the car. I did not want to hit my side skirt on the side walk.

Guess what the driver do? She just looked on. Not wanting to move to the right side a bit.

The result? I hit her side mirror with mine and give her a stare. Haha.. you might want to know why I did that right?

Well, as you know, Kenari didn't have powered side mirror. Therefore it will be hard for her to adjust her side mirror . Furthermore, it's on the left side of her car. Haha.. try bending over to move it! :p

MPK is Definitely Going to Pawn Them!

I was cycling when I overheard this:

Pakcik: *Shouting at his son who is few feet away* What is the number of the parking lot?
Son(young teenager): *Looked blur* What?
Pakcik: Parking lot number.
Son: *Still looked blur but walking towards their car* 52
Pakcik: *Walk towards the parking machine*

The pakcik owned an old Proton Wira with the registration starting with B** ####.

So the conclusion is this:

1) They have just recently moved into Selangor and bought a 2nd hand car with Selangor registration number. That is why they don't know how to buy the parking ticket. (Parking ticket in Selangor involve typing in your number part of your car number plate only)
2)They are from another state but owned a Selangor registered car and are here for visiting.
3) They are from Selangor and are pure ignorant people that can't even buy parking ticket properly. the parking system has been there since when I was in primary school.

Looking at how hardworking MPK personals are, they are definately getting PAWNED!

It's a Damn Political Ploy

WTF? WTF? WTF? WTF? It totally proved that politician doesn't have backbone!

Previously he is in support of teaching science and mathematics in English but then it came to this:
"Scrap the policy of teaching Science and Mathematics in English and bring back Bahasa Melayu as the medium of instruction in the education system, said Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim."-The Star
What a dumbass! The books on science and maths usually are from English speaking country. They are the developed country. They published their books, researches, papers and journals in English. Isn't it easier to teach these subjects in English rather than using books that were translated into Bahasa Malaysia? There are such thing as lost in translation. Some translation might be wrong and hence the students might get the idea wrong.

Furthermore, many of us want to further our studies in those foreign countries. Isn't it easier for our students adapt to the teachings in English that are done there if the students are already fluent with the language and familiar with the English scientific terms?

I remember when I first enter medical school. I was in Form 6 before that. Sciences were taught in Bahasa Malaysia. It's a bit hard to tune your brain to remember facts that were previously, for decades, were taught in Bahasa Malaysia.

How can we be a delevoped country when we don't flow with time? Science and maths are currently moving with English medium.

And he must add this:

“This includes not forcing our children to pass English as a compulsory subject in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) as this will result in many students, especially in rural areas, to fail,” added Anwar."
Come on! If we keep protecting those in rurals and not forcing them to move on, the ones in the city will be held back by them. Eventually, both side will lose out!

As a medical student in UMS, we were given a family in the rural area to take care for 5 years. We have to visit them frequently. During this time, I noticed that even with Astro, these people still choose to watch Bahasa Malaysia show in Tv1 and TV2 all the time. They don't watch National Geographic or Discovery channels at all. The reason they don't watch these channels is because they are not fluent in English.

So, isn't it better to make English compulsory which in the end will benefit them? The policy is good. It's an effort to push those in the rurals the learn and eventually master English. How can we have Malaysia My 2nd Home policy for the foreigners, who like to stay in the rural areas due to the green environment, when our rural folks can't speak a sh*t in English?

One of the Best 'Indo Mee Goreng' in Klang

Move away Maggi Mee, Indo Mee has come. Yup, back when Maggi Mee goreng was introduced in mid 1990's in mamak's menu, it was an instant big hit. During that time, it was one of my frequent meal to be ordered during mamak session.

But now, there is Indo Mee goreng. And one of the best in Klang that I have eaten before is in Restoran Sriga, which is in Taman Chi Liung. Here's the location:

Red marks the spot.

You there, the one looking at this pic. I know it's delicious, please wipe you saliva.

One of the main thing about frying instant noodle is not to make it too wet. The one serve at this restaurant does it perfectly. It's not too salty too. Another variety of Indo Mee Goreng can be ordered, which is the 'kosong Indo Mee Goreng' (Just fried noodle without the vegetable). Top it up with a sunny side up egg and it will be simply DELICIOUS!
